The villa Beau Chêne

The villa Beau Chêne, in Louis XIII style, dates from the end of the 19th century.
The first thing that seduced us about this property is the story of its illustrious owner, Josephine Baker, who lived here from 1929 to 1947. This American with an exceptional destiny, who lived several lives, left her mark in this castle which we acquired in order to give it a new start, and by writing a new page in its history.

This place, which enjoyed its glory between the two wars with the star Josephine Baker as owner, remained practically abandoned at the beginning of the 2000s. We have undertaken major renovation work to restore it to its former glory, taking care to respect its identity, and of course its history. As with all properties from this period, one cannot understand what its existence was without considering its park and the various amenities that adorned it.

Thus, after renovation, we rebuilt her wrought iron greenhouse where Josephine Baker grew her vegetables or her kiosk where she liked to have tea in the summer, surrounded by her many animals left free in the park, including Chiquita, her famous jaguar.
Other architectural elements are currently being renovated, and will bring this magnificent late 19th century park back to life tomorrow.

The site was recently classified as an exceptional historical monument.
